When the US Mint released the State Quarters series many people suddenly rediscovered the joys of coin collecting, and the Mint underestimated the demand. The 1999 sets sold out quickly and so for 2000 the Mint increased the number of sets- and did not meet sales expectations. So the Mint cut production for 2001- and promptly sold out.
This 2002 US Mint Silver Proof Set was issued in what the Mint believed would be sufficient numbers, but they were a little short- still.
Set comes in two acrylic holders, the first has the Sacagawea Dollar, Kennedy Half, Roosevelt Dime, Jefferson Nickel and Lincoln Penny and the other holds the 4th set of 5 state quarters (Tennessee, Ohio, Louisiana, Indiana, and Mississippi).
The Kennedy Half, 5 Washington Quarters and the Roosevelt Dime are all 90% silver.
All coins are in beautiful proof condition. Comes with Certificate of Authenticity and cardboard box. Acrylic holders in excellent condition, box is in Good shape.
