Product Description

1967 Canada Proof set commemorating the 100th anniversary of Canadian Independence.

Struck by the Royal Canadian Mint, this set was illegal to sell in the United States (gold coins being illegal to own by US citizens until 1975) so many of the proof sets were sold without the gold coin, a plated medallion was sent in its place.

The gold coin features a young Queen Elizabeth on the obverse with the legend "ELIZABETH II" and "D.G. REGINA", and on the reverse is the Canadian coat-of-arms with "CANADA" and "20 DOLLARS" on either side with the date above.

The coin weighs 18.273 grams, and contains 0.5288 Troy oz of fine gold in a 0.900 fineness alloy.

The remaining centennial proofs-

Flying Goose Dollar- 80% Silver, 0.60 oz silver
Howling Wolf Half Dollar- 80% Silver, 0.30 oz silver
Running Bobcat Quarter- 80% Silver, 0.15 oz silver
