1986 Montana Engelhard and Johnson Matthey Silver Rounds 2 x 1 Troy oz

Product Description
1986 Montana Engelhard and Johnson Matthey Silver Rounds 2 x 1 Troy oz Uncirculated condition
Offered as a set discounted from what they retail for separately.
In 1986 Treasure State Silver and Gold, a coin dealer in Billings Montana, commissioned silver rounds of their own design from Engelhard Precious Metals. The first 3,000 were made by Engelhard but they then switched to Johnson Matthey (presumably for cost reasons). Total mintage of the JM version is not known but assumed to be a little more than the Engelhard mintage.
The obverse features an outline of the state of Montana, with "Treasure State" in the middle of it, "Montana" above and "1986" below. The reverse has the legend "Big Sky Country" and "One Ounce Troy Fine Silver .999" with the Engelhard trademark underneath, the design is identical for the Johnson Matthey version except for the JM trademark in the same location.
We acquired the Engelhards from a family whose patriarch purchased them from Treasure State Silver & Gold on July 15th 1986 and stored in a bank vault. The Johnson Matthey rounds were purchased from an individual still sealed in mint plastic, ten to a sheet.
All rounds are in beautiful mint condition, no tarnish or scratches. If you do not want them in Airtites the JM round will be sent still sealed in mint plastic, Engelhards will be in a coin flip (they were originally shipped in 20 round coin tubes).
