2010 Mexican 1/2 Onza Troy Oro Puro (1/2 troy ounce of pure gold) Proof strike, in original mint acrylic capsule, .999 fine. Minted at The Mexican Mint ("La Casa de Moneda de México"), the oldest mint in the Americas (founded in 1535).
The obverse features Mexico’s national coat of arms (an eagle battling a snake surrounded by a wreath) and the words “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS” above.
The reverse depicts “Angel of Independence,” in Mexico City, built in 1910 to celebrate the centennial of Mexican Independence from Spain. In the background is the twin volcanoes of Popocatépetl and Iztaccihuatl. Over the mountains is "1/2 Onza Oro Pura” (Pure Goldr), the date 2010 and the purity “Ley .999”.
Very limited stock. The coins are not black, the highly polished fields are like mirrors.
