Product Description

The Netherlands (or Holland) has a long history of issuing gold coins, with many different names, weights and denominations. Dutch coin names are ducats, florins, florins d'or, duits, stuivers, cavaliers, gulden or guilders, and ducatons. Most of these have been issued in multiple and fractional versions.

Coins in stock are a 1925 and a 1926 10 Gulden or Florin (guilder in English) from second series (1925-1933) of Queen Wilhelmina (1890-1948) displays a portrait of Queen Wilhelmina truncated at the neck and is without the tiara featured in the first series (1911-1917). The reverse is identical in both series. Above is the inscription GOD ZIJ MET ONS. Below is KONINGEN WILHELMINA. The reverse shows a crowned lion bearing a sword and arrows on a large shield surmounted by a large crown. At either side is the denomination 10 G. The date 1912 appears below, and the legend KONINGRIJK DER NEDERLANDEN, around the edge. A seahorse and caduceus privy marks appear either side of the date.

The coin contains 0.1947 Troy oz of gold in an 90% alloy. In Almost Uncirculated condition.
