This is the 2000 Gold Eagle Proof set, which includes the 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz and 1/10th oz Gold Eagles. Each coin is minted in a 22 karat composition (91.67% Gold, 3% Silver and 5.33% Copper) and weighs slightly more than the actual gold weight to compensate for the silver and copper alloys.
Struck by the US Mint at West Point, the American Gold Eagle's weight and composition are guaranteed by the US Government as they are legal tender coins, so Eagles are a very safe way of buying gold.
These are proof strikes, minted with special dies to give the coin exceptional details and mirror-like flat surfaces. Coins are sold with original mint packaging, including a felt covered book-like holder, acrylic coin capsules and external protective box. Also comes with certificate of authenticity from the US Mint.
