The 1991-1995 (1993) 50th Anniversary of World War II Commemorative Silver Dollar Proof was released by the U.S. Mint in 1993 to mark the 50th anniversary of the United States’ involvement in World War II.
The obverse design shows an American soldier on the beach of Normandy on D-Day. Surrounding the scene are the inscriptions D-DAY, JUNE 6, 1944, IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY, 1991 and 1995.
On the reverse, an image of the shoulder sleeve insignia of Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force is shown along with a quotation from Dwight D. Eisenhower "I HAVE FULL CONFIDENCE IN YOUR COURAGE, DEVOTION TO DUTY AND SKILL IN BATTLE. WE WIL ACCEPT NOTHING LESS THAN FULL VICTORY!" Included as well are the inscriptions of DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE DOLLAR, E PLURIBUS UNUM.
This proof $1 Dollar silver coin was struck at the West Point Mint. It is made the same composition and size as the old (pre-1936) Silver Dollars- 90% silver, 10% copper, 38.5mm diameter and containing 0.7734 Troy oz of silver.
Includes all original U.S. Mint packing materials- acrylic coin holder, display box and certificate of authenticity.
