The Statue of Liberty was a gift from the people of France and was dedicated in 1886. When time came to restore the Ellis Island buildings and the Statue of Liberty, special commemorative Half Dollars, Silver Dollars and $5 Gold Coins were struck for fund-raising.
This is an Uncirculated $1 Dollar silver coin struck at the Philadelphia Mint. It is made the same composition and size as the old (pre-1936) Silver Dollars- 90% silver, 10% copper, 38.5mm diameter and containing 0.7725 Troy oz of silver.
Coin is Uncirculated and sealed in an acrylic holder, comes in a U.S. Mint display box with certificate of authenticity.
