The American Gold Eagle series of coins are the most popular gold bullion coin sold in the US. These $5 Gold Eagles contain 1/10 troy oz of Gold in a 22 karat composition (91.67% Gold, 3% Silver and 5.33% Copper) and each coin weighs 0.109 troy oz total.

The Gold Tenth Oz is a nice fraction size gold coin that makes it possible to purchase gold in smaller amounts. Due to production limitations the Mint occasionally suspends the minting of fractional gold coins to concentrate on 1 oz coins only, so sometimes $5 Gold Eagles are hard to find.
