2015 Britannia Silver 2 Pounds 1 Troy oz BU
Following the success of the Britannia gold bullion coins introduced in 1987, the Royal Mint started in 1997 to produce a one ounce silver Britannia coin with a face value of two pounds (£2).
The current silver Britannias are .999 fine and contain 1 troy oz of silver (until 2012 they were 23 karat- .958 fine).
The standing Britannia was first used on the florins of Edward VII from 1902 to 1910 inclusive, and was originally engraved by G.W. De Saulles.
The current design was introduced for the gold Britannias in 1987, and is featured on the silver Britannias of 1998, 2000, 2002, and 2004. Special designs were issued in other years, but the Royal Mint has settled on this design (for now) although new for 2015 is a textured background around the Queen's bust and Britannia.
Coins are new in brilliant uncirculated condition.
