Product Description

The American Gold Eagle series of coins are the most popular gold bullion coin sold in the US.

This is a 1988 1/10 oz Gold Eagle, with a face value of $5. The coin is minted in a 22 karat composition (91.67% Gold, 3% Silver and 5.33% Copper) and weighs slightly more than the actual gold weight to compensate for the silver and copper alloys.

Struck by the US Mint at West Point, the American Gold Eagle's weight and composition are guaranteed by the US Government as they are legal tender coins, so Eagles are a very safe way of buying gold.

This is a proof strike, minted with special dies to give the coin exceptional details and mirror-like flat surfaces. Coin comes in the original mint packaging, including a felt covered book-like holder, acrylic coin capsule and external protective box. Also comes with certificate of authenticity from the US Mint.
