Product Description

This 1986 100-franc silver coin commemorates the centennial of the Statue of Liberty.

The Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World was a gift of friendship from the people of France to the people of the United States, and is a universal symbol of freedom and democracy.

This piedfort coin is twice the thickness of the regular 100-franc coin, and weighs 30 grams (regular coin is 15 grams). The coin is .900 fine silver, so actual silver content is 27 grams, or 0.868 troy oz.

The reverse shows the French national motto "LIBERTE, EGALITY, FRATERNITE", the face value, and the year of issue. In small letters on the left edge of the face is 'PIEDFORT' and on the right 'DURAND-MEGRET'.

Coin is minted by Monnaie de Paris (the French Mint) and comes in an acrylic holder from the mint.
