This coin was struck to commemorate the Royal Visit of Queen Elizabeth II to Hong Kong in 1975. With a face value of HK $1,000 the Hong Kong Government decided to continue minting the same denomination coin each year after that to commemorate the Chinese Lunar calender.

Coin contains 0.4708 Troy oz of gold in a 22 karat alloy (0.9167 fine). Less than 16,000 were minted, and this example has been graded MS-66 by NGC.
