Product Description

1909-S VDB Lincoln Penny graded MS65RB by PCGS, serial number 2427.65/13469733. Highly desirable and rare grade Red/Brown San Francisco minted VDB coin. Greysheet Bid is $4,750!

PCGS has only graded 679 MS-65s, and 30 MS-66s of this coin.

This is the one of the rarest U.S. coins, the San Francisco Mint did not start producing the new Lincoln Wheat penny until late in 1909 and only a relative few had been produced before the Treasury Department decided to eliminate the prominent initials of the designer, Victor D. Brenner.

Only 484,000 VDB pennies were struck at the San Francisco Mint, versus nearly 28 million at Philadelphia.

Subject to prior sale, coin is consigned.
